PGI TYRNAVOS

PGI Tyrnavos wine region is one of the most important viticultural areas in Greece which resides in the Perfecture of Thessaly close to the city of Larissa.

PGI TYRNAVOS in detail

PGI Tyrnavos wine region was established in 1990 including the areas of Argyropouli, Damassi, Tyrnavos, Ampelonas, Vryotopos, Deleri and Rodia.

The white roditis and the red muscat black of Tyrnavos are cultivated dating many years back. In addition, and with excellent results many more Greek and international varieties are present like Malagousia, Limninona, Chardonnay and Syrah producing white, rose, red dry, semi dry, semi-sweet and sparking or semi sparkling wines.

Further to the Protected Geographical Indication Tyrnavos wines, there are several varietal wines produced in the area including blends of international and indigenous Greek varieties like Malagousia and Assyrtiko. The wines beautifully express the terroir they are cultivated and the character of their varieties.
