The 50 GGW in collaboration with Wojciech Bońkowski MW, Poland's first Master of Wine and judge in this year's competition, are organising a Masterclass and a Wine Dinner on 21 February in Warsaw, with the participation of Ktima Zafeirakis.
A few words about Poland as an emerging wine market:
With 2023 as the 33rd year of continuous value growth, Poland has now emerged as one of the most exciting wine markets in the world. Greece is also the #1 holiday destination for Poles, with nearly 1 million visits in 2023. This is an excellent combination for Greek exporters, who are encouraged to capitalise on the growing interest in Mediterranean wines in Poland and the growing awareness of the Greek wine revolution (notably with the 50 Great Greek Wines, which declares itself present with activities and coverage from 2020). Of particular interest are white and rosé wines, as well as indigenous varieties. Greek wineries already have a remarkable market penetration, but there is room for much more, making promotional activities more relevant than ever.
The Masterclass, which will feature the award-winning Limniona of the Ktima Zafeirakis, will be presented by Yannis Karakasis MW and will be addressed to 30-40 wine professionals, importers and sommeliers who distribute wines on trade.
The Wine Dinner that will follow will be held at Kieliszki na Próżnej restaurant and will be co-presented by W. Bonkowski MW & Yannis Karakasis MW.
The wine restaurant was founded in Poland in 2015 by Poland's leading wine importer Beata Gawęda and champion sommelier Paweł Demianiuk. It was the first of its kind in the country.
