ACG: "Education as a Force for Growth"

Updated: May 31, 2023

ACG gathered on May 4 with more than 50 leaders from the New York City Greek American community, including many distinguished alumni, to proudly mark ACG’s 100 years of impact in Greece. The special occasion, Education as a Force for Growth, was held in the residence of the Consul General of Greece in New York. ACG’s Advancement Office partnered with Consul General Dinos Konstantinou and Myrsini Feliou, Pierce ‘93, to cohost the event. The program focused on the power of education to drive personal, social and economic growth.

Highlights included a warm welcome and introduction to ACG’s unique role in Greece’s educational ecosystem from the Consul General and remarks by ACG President David G. Horner about the school’s extraordinary growth and impact since its relocation to Greece following the Smyrna Catastrophe in 1922. Executive Chairman of the Libra Group, George Logothetis, inspired the entire group with comments and personal stories about the origins and impacts of the Libra Internship Program, initially established at ACG in 2011.

ACG was honored by the presence of Pfizer Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Albert Bourla and his wife, Myriam Alchanati. We were delighted to see several members of our board of trustees, including Alex Aldous, Pierce ‘98, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Government Relations Officer at Chef’s Warehouse; George Casey, Global Managing Partner, Shearman & Sterling LLP; John Chachas, Managing Partner, Methuselah Advisors; and, Antony Contomichalos, founder and President of MacArthur Capital Group.

Many thanks to Eleni Blouchou, Deree ‘93, Bonello Athens Marketing & Communications and Ktima Zafeirakisfor providing excellent Greek wines for tasting and serving.
